SEO Case Study

RetroRide Teardrop Campers

About the Client

Blake Johnston, the owner, had been through the ringer with marketing his campers & trailers online. He had tried a handful of SEO companies that could never get him to the first page of results in his hometown of Plover, Wisconsin.

After analyzing his website and letting him know of all the SEO-related issues & problems, I could tell he was pretty skeptical. He had that, "I've heard this BS before" infliction to his response.

Well, I would be skeptical too if my money was being wasted for nothing!

Analysis & Implementation

  1. Page load speed - there were hundreds of uncompressed images.
  2. An Image/CSS/JS compression plugin was breaking the meta tags, rendering his website virtually invisible to search engines.
  3. Keyword Inconsistency - The keywords set in his content were close to what people were searching for, but weren't consistent at all.

I took the time to manually compress all of his images and remove the worthless compression plugin. The head tag meta information now displayed properly with no W3C validation errors.

After the technical issues were fixed, I performed proper keyword research & analysis. I then corrected his content and URL slugs with the correct keyword phrases.

After the above problems were fixed and about one week's time had passed, Blake wrote me an email. Nevertheless, he was ecstatic! I had RetroRide's website at the top of the Plover game sitting pretty at spot #1 on Google. On top of that success, his website is now #3 in the state of Wisconsin for his product!

Blake confirmed that he was skeptical at first, but was incredibly happy with the results in the end. He did not anticipate becoming a statewide competitor.

SEO Meter

Before

Due to the errors he had - and that at least three other SEO companies before me had also tried - his website was in a pretty rough spot.

After

He not only gained the #1 spot for local results, he's now renowned for his product throughout Wisconsin. The website as about as good as I can get it.

Testimonial

RetroRide Teardrop Campers

My website was running very bad. If I came up on the 10th page of Google it was a miracle. I had some people look at it with no improvement. I was looking through the web one day, looking for someone to help and ran across Dan. I gave him a call and Dan told me the same things others told me, ‘Oh I can fix that, just give me a week.’ A few calls back and forth and a week later, I now come up on page 1 or 2 in Google. He was the best thing that ever looked at my web site and the cost was very reasonable. Thanks Dan!
